    Mass Effect

Well its that time again, time for another Godlygamer review of the month. This month i will be discussing Biowares shooter rpg "Mass Effect" for the PC and Xbox 360. Mass Effect is the story of Commander Shepard a member of the Human military who's personality is player defined. The plot will unfold into an epic spanning galaxys involving treachery, robots, and killer plants.

                   Positives:

The game's plot is INCREDIBLE it actually makes you want to sit down and play the game straight through like a movie. The gore is almost nonexistent which is great for a shooter. The weapons and armor are customizable and in fact most all of your character and your team members are customizable. The dialogue is flawless with the animation matching up almost perfectly with the sound. The game is fairly expansive and there are dozens of miniquests to do besides the main story line.

                    Negatives:

This game is rated M for language, violence, sexual themes, and partial nudity. The language is fairly consistent but is for the most part limited to damn and hell. The violence is minimally visceral. The main problem with this game for many players and parents will be the infamous "sex scene". Yes the game does have 4 variations of a sex scene including a lesbianic one. HOWEVER it is fairly easy to play the game through completely without triggering the sex sequence and even if you do trigger it is easy to stop it there with no nudity involved. The sex scene itself  is fairly non revealing as the video contains mainly facial views before and after the nudity involved amounts to a side view of an alien breast and butt.

                   Review:

Mass Effect is a great story driven game but it definitely has its pitfalls. Unless you are over 15 I would suggest leaving this one on the shelf or at least being extremely careful while playing.

  • Sid Meiers Civilization IV

Review by Request: Civilization IV (requested by Esturk)

This is my first Review by Request so this is how its gonna work. It will be almost the same as my normal reviews except it will be shorter and more focused. So here we go!

Civilization 4 lets players take a nation from its humblest tribal beginnings to the medieval ages to the modern day. It is a real time strategy game from Sid Meiers

-It is expansive and exhaustive there is so much to do it can overwhelm players new to rts's

-It has a wonderfully designed diplomacy and city building aspect

-The maps are often unrealistic as you may find an oasis in a 2 square area of desert in a forest

-The developers removed many things that made the first 3 games so charming and fun

-The religion aspect tends to have a rather one-dimensional view on religions

  • How can I reflect Christ through gaming?

This question has bothered me for quite a while now and i think im ready to take a stab at answering it. First off names. While I have met a few Christian gamers who decide to name all of their characters something Christian/God/Bible related I personally dont think that that is necessary. However I do think that a players name is the first thing other players see so naming yourself things like "Your Mom" is not the best way to go. Likewise racist or sexist gamertags are also a no go. Show maturity in your names and pick one that relates to your interests not what you think others will find funny or offensive. Secondly chat. Chat is always a major factor in mmos and multiplayer games. Be respectful and dont insult the "noobs" too much. Lastly be an example if a player is having trouble see wether you can help. If someone needs a few coins lend them some. While these may not seem like big things they add up and are just another way to show God's love through your lifestyle.

--- If anyone has any other suggestions feel free to comment

I'd like to hear your take on the latest in Sid Meier's Civilization series of turn-based strategy games.
